Homogenizing furnace is an industrial heat-treatment furnace designed to eliminate microscopic inhomogeneities within materials through precise heating and soaking, thereby improving overall performance and reliability.
It achieves homogenization via heat treatment and is widely used in metal processing, glass manufacturing, and other industries.

Core Applications & Principles of Homogenizing Furnace
Metal Industry(especially aluminium alloys)-Used for homogenising cast aluminium billets, ingots, etc.
Purpose:
– To eliminate residual stresses and micro-segregation (uneven composition) caused by rapid cooling during casting. The material is heated to a specific temperature (e.g., about 570 °C for aluminium alloys) and held for sufficient time to promote diffusion of alloying elements (such as Mg and Si), making the composition and microstructure more uniform.
Effect:
– Significantly improves the material’s plasticity, reduces resistance during subsequent extrusion, and enhances the final product’s surface quality.
Glass Industry (especially tempered glass) – This is a critical qualityassurance and safety step before tempered glass leaves the factory.
Purpose:
– To perform a “heat-soak” test that triggers breakage of defective panels. The process uses high temperature (about 290 °C) to accelerate the phase transformation of nickel sulfide (NiS) impurities from the αphase to the βphase.
Effect:
– This phase change is accompanied by a volume expansion of about 4 %, which is enough to cause glass panels with “spontaneous breakage” risk to shatter inside the furnace. This effectively screens out defective products,reducing the on-site spontaneous breakage rate to below 1/10,000, greatly improving building safety.

Cooling System:
– After homogenisation, rapid cooling is often required to “lock in” the improved microstructure. The furnace is usually paired with an independent cooling chamber or cooling station that uses powerful fans to achieve controlled cooling rates.
